the virtual reading series : periodicities: a journal of poetry and poetics,

even though the first content for the site had been scheduled to appear up on the new poetics journal, periodicities: a journal of poetry and poetics on April 1st, i thought it would be interesting to get up a series of videos of contemporary poets reading from their own work, as a kind of 'virtual reading series,' to help offset the onslaught of reading and festival (and everything) cancellations, from Ottawa's VERSeFest to Growing Room: A Feminist Literary Festival to the New Orleans Poetry Festival, among others. there are already forty individual videos online, by poets across North America, including Amish Trivedi, Khashayar Mohammadi, Amanda Earl, Isabella Wang, myself, Gil McElroy, Conyer Clayton, K.I. Press, Gary Barwin, IAN MARTIN, Adeena Karasick, Pearl Pirie, Paul Brookes, Manahil Bandukwala, Margo LaPierre, Emily Izsak, Adam Clay, émilie kneifel, Chris Johnson, Natalee Caple, Megan Burns, Jacqueline Valencia, Sadiqa de Meijer, Heather Sweeney, Hailey Higdon, Rebecca Rustin, Forrest Gander, Shane Rhodes, Johannes Göransson, Ellen Chang-Richardson, derek beaulieu, Orchid Tierney, Catriona Strang, Simon Brown, Laura K. McRae, Razielle Aigen, Fred Schmalz, Chris Nealon, Matthew Rohrer and Noelle Kocot (as read by Matthew Rohrer). more, of course, will be scheduled over the coming days and weeks, so please self-isolate and be healthy and safe! these might not replace actual in-person events, but hopefully it makes the self-isolations feel a bit less isolating,

otherwise, there will be reviews, essays, poems and interviews beginning to post monthly on the site beginning April 1st; just what might come? new work by George Stanley, you say? and by Amy Parkes, Rosmarie Waldrop and Michael Turner? a lecture by Klara du Plessis? reviews by D.A. Lockhart and Julian Day? and interviews by Shazia Hafiz Ramji and Michael Sikemma? various tributes to the late BC poet Ken Belford by Fred Wah, Larissa Lai, Rob Budde, Elee Kraljii Gardiner, Donna Kane and Rita Wong? further pieces by Kim Minkus, Amanda Deutch and Sacha Archer? AND SO MUCH MORE? i mean, that's just madness! amazing, brilliant, glorious madness,

stay safe and healthy! and sane! AND HOME! and wash your damned hands,
