Pearl Pirie wins the 2011 Robert Kroetsch Award for Innovative Poetry!
Massive congratulations to our very own Pearl Pirie, who won this year's 2011 Robert Kroetsch Award for Innovative Poetry with her manuscript "Thirsts," with final judging done from an impressive shortlist of nine (including Ottawa locals Christine McNair, Sandra Ridley + Amanda Earl) by Neil Besner. Pearl [read my piece on her on the Globe & Mail book blog here] is the author of the trade collection been shed bore (Chaudiere, 2010), and chapbooks including over my dead corpus (AngelHousePress, 2009) and oath in the boathouse (above/ground press, 2008). Pearl has already blogged on the shortlist, including links to all the authors for further information and, today, posted further on the award itself, including history, past winners and Robert Kroetsch himself.
