The International 3-Day Novel Contest: 35 Years and Still Notorious

Registration is open for the 35th Annual International 3-Day Novel Contest. It's the world's most notorious literary marathon! Labour Day Weekend, September 1-3, 2012.

It began as a dare, became an act of defiance and, 35 years later, the 3-Day Novel Contest still reigns as the world's most maddening and exhilarating challenge for writers.

Every Labour Day weekend, hundreds of writers from all over the world shut themselves away and try to produce a masterwork of fiction in 72 short hours. They suffer through sweat, cramping fingers, crying/laughing jags, hunger and exhaustion, and some even crack under the pressure. Why do they do it? Because it's there. (And for the joy of creative experimentation and a shot at the top prize of publication by 3-Day Books.)

Contact us at the coordinates below for more information or to interview a 3DNC entrant or winner from your area. (3DNC participants are everywhere! [including Ottawa's Victoria Dunn, launching their/her novel at the ottawa small press book fair]) Full rules, registration information, deadlines, survival tips and contest history are at www.3daynovel.com.

3-Day Meets the New Era
Deep within the nest of yellowing papers and old typewriter ribbon that forms 3DNC headquarters, our steam-powered teletype machine rattled out the news that the world of publishing was going digital. So, this year, we're offering full electronic options for both our entrants and readers: online registration, electronic novel submission and, at last, Kindle and epub editions of the most recent published winners from 3-Day Books. Find these fun, fast reads here!
